The
1971 car of Jo Siffert had been brought to 1972 specification
for the use of Porsche test driver Willi Kauhsen.

The
spaceframe of the Porsche 917/10 was made out of magnesium. The
air-cooled 12 cylinder engine had got 4999 cc, two turbochargers
and about
950 horse powers. As typical for Porsche all engines were boxers.

The
Porsche 917/30 had been the most powerful car all over the world
before massive turbo power entered Grand Prix Racing in the
mid-eighties.
The car had got a 5.4 litre air-cooled boxer engine with up to
1.200 horse
powers.

In
1973 the Porsche 917/30 was entered by Team Penske, sponsored by
oil group Sunoco and exclusively driven by Mark Donohue winning
that
year´s CanAm championship with 6 victories to his credit.
