McLAREN FORD M26

Der McLaren Ford M26, der wie sein erfolgreicher Vorgänger M23 von Gordon Coppuck konstruiert wurde, konnte zwar keine Weltmeisterschaft gewinnen, aber 1977 mit James Hunt im Cockpit immerhin drei Grand Prix. Bereits für die Saison 1976 vorgestellt, brauchte er jedoch bis Mitte 1977, um sich endgültig durchzusetzen. In der Saison 1978 war er gegen die Flügelautos vom Typ Lotus Ford 79 jedoch ziemlich chancenlos.

The McLaren Ford M26 had been designed by Gordon Coppuck like his successful predecessor M23. In spite the car had not won a worldchampionship, it was able to win three Grand Prix in 1977 with James Hunt in the cockpit. Presented for the 1976 season, it took until mid-1977 to establish the M26 as the McLaren team`s regular model. But in the 1978 the car had very low chances against the Lotus Ford 79 wing cars.
