"Power Meets Emotion": The Fair for Fun with Cars
Four Exhibition Sections Form Its Recipe for Success
Years ago, the "Essen Motor Show" already anticipated the trend towards the vehicle with all-wheel drive - and it is consistently placing its faith in "four-wheel drive": i.e. four exhibition sections have constituted its recipe for success for years. The most diverse international automobile fair at Messe Essen mirrors the fascination associated with everything to do with the subjects of cars and motor sport, individual vehicle tuning, oldtimers and classic cars as well as unique, not-for-sale vehicle sensations in the Show Center which is without parallel anywhere in the world.
This year, "Power Meets Emotion" will be the leitmotif of the "Essen Motor Show 2003" which, from November 28 to December 7 of this year, will be the meeting place for car fans for the 36th time.
Automobiles: Focus on Sporty New Vehicles
The automobile manufacturers will present their latest models. Special emphasis will be placed on the sporty variants and special vehicle developments with which they are successful in motor sport. Vehicles from the various racing categories, also including the victorious Formula-1 racers, will be gleaming on many booths. The vehicle industry is placing its faith in the "Essen Motor Show", above all in order to put the spotlight on its makes and to underline its competence as a make for the ambitious car driver.
Tuning: Global Fair for Car Refiners
Nowhere else do the automobile tuners show their spectrum of products so comprehensively as at the "Essen Motor Show" which is rated as the global fair for automobile tuning. Everybody of standing and reputation in the car-refiner sector is there. No matter whether interior, optical, engine or chassis tuning - every year, the "Essen Motor Show" is the top-ranking international shop window of this sector which is oriented to growth in spite of the poor economic situation in general. It will already be possible to see tuned versions of almost all the new vehicle models from 2003. Verband Deutscher Automobil-Tuner e.V. (VDAT - the "Association of German Automobile Tuners") will also be involved once again. Exclusively VDAT members will present themselves and their products once again in Halls 10 and 11 which will be designed in a salon character.
Oldtimers & Classic Cars: Market for Automobile Antiques
The around 400 antique car rarities in the "Oldtimers & Classic Cars" section can not only be admired - they can also be bought. The "Essen Motor Show" has proven to be a successful trading centre for "old darlings". Vehicles worth millions of Euros change hands here: Youngtimers which are suitable for everyday use and for the not so well-heeled oldie fan in addition to wickedly expensive collectors' items, particularly noble examples of which are regularly acquired also by purchasers from other European countries, from overseas or from the Far East.
Show Center with New Styling
The Show Center in Hall 1A will present itself in a new outfit. Custom cars, dragsters which are strong at sprinting and bursting with power, motorcycle design studies and one-offs from the world's greatest motorcycle meeting in Daytona, extremely flat lowriders, tractors with over 5000 hp, concept cars and art cars like the VW Beetle equipped with quite a lot of musical instruments - the Show Center will prove once again that hardly any limits are set on automobile fantasy. One particular highlight will be the Xeno III, a completely gilded roadster worth one million US Dollars.
The main subject in the Show Center will be "55 Years of Ferrari in Formula 1" - presented by Ferrari's partner Shell Helix. More than 20 victorious vehicles will serve as a reminder of the successful history of the red racers from Maranello in the royal class of motor sport. The "Automobile Design" show in which around 20 automobile visions from the automobile manufacturers and the most renowned designers will be exhibited will provide an insight into the future of cars.
Large-Scale Presentation of "100 Years of Motor Sport in ADAC" in the Galeria and Hall 2A
The large-scale presentation of "100 Years of Motor Sport in ADAC" in the Galeria and Hall 2A will represent the climax and conclusion of the anniversary year. ADAC (the "General German Automobile Club"), which is the ideal sponsor of the "Essen Motor Show", will once again draw attention to its sporting activities. An extensive presentation of successful racing cars and motorcycles which have driven to victory in ADAC events - from the Grand-Prix racing car to the rally vehicle – visitors will see in the galeria.

Den Trend zum Allrad-Fahrzeug hat die "Essen Motor Show" schon vor Jahren vorweggenommen – und setzt konsequent auf "Vierrad-Antrieb": Vier Ausstellungsbereiche sind nämlich seit Jahren ihr Erfolgsrezept. Die international vielseitigste Automobilmesse in der Messe Essen ist Spiegel der Faszination rund um die Themen Autos und Motorsport, individuelles Fahrzeug-Tuning, Oldtimer und Classic Cars sowie einzigartige, unverkäufliche Fahrzeug-Sensationen im weltweit einmaligen Show-Center.
"Power meets emotion" ist in diesem Jahr das Leitmotiv der "Essen Motor Show 2003", die vom 28. November bis zum 7. Dezember diesen Jahres zum 36. Mal Treffpunkt der Autofans ist.
Automobile: Sportliche Neuheiten im Mittelpunkt
Die Automobilhersteller präsentieren ihre neuesten Modelle. Im Vordergrund stehen die sportlichen Varianten und spezielle Fahrzeug-Entwicklungen, mit denen sie im Motorsport erfolgreich sind. An vielen Ständen glänzen Fahrzeuge aus den verschiedenen Rennsport-Kategorien, darunter auch die siegreichen Formel 1-Boliden. Die Fahrzeug-Industrie setzt auf die "Essen-Motor-Show" vor allem, um ihre Marken zu profilieren und ihre Kompetenz als Marke für den ambitionierten Autofahrer zu unterstreichen.
Tuning: Weltmesse der Auto-Veredler
Nirgendwo sonst zeigen die Automobiltuner so umfassend ihr Produktspektrum wie auf der "Essen Motor Show", die den Rang der Weltmesse für Automobiltuning trägt. Wer in der Branche der Autoveredler Rang und Namen hat, ist dabei. Ob Innenraum- oder Optiktuning, ob Motor- oder Fahrwerkstuning – die "Essen Motor Show" ist jedes Jahr international erstrangiges Schaufenster dieser trotz allgemeiner Wirtschaftsschwäche wachstumsorientierten Branche. Fast alle neuen Fahrzeugmodelle des Jahres 2003 werden bereits in getunten Versionen zu sehen sein. Auch der VDAT – Verband Deutscher Automobil-Tuner e.V. – engagiert sich wieder. Ausschließlich VDAT-Mitglieder präsentieren sich erneut in den im Salon-Charakter gestalteten Hallen 10 und 11 mit ihren Produkten.
Oldtimer & Classic Cars: Markt für automobile Antiquitäten
Die rund 400 antiken Auto-Raritäten im Bereich Oldtimer und Classic Cars sind nicht nur zu bewundern – man kann sie auch kaufen. Die "Essen Motor Show" hat sich als erfolgreicher Handelsplatz für "alte Schätzchen" erwiesen. Fahrzeuge im Wert von Millionen Euro wechseln hier den Besitzer: Alltagstaugliche Youngtimer für den nicht so betuchten Oldie-Fan ebenso wie sündhaft teure Sammlerstücke, von denen regelmäßig besonders edle Exemplare auch von Käufern aus dem europäischen Ausland sowie Übersee oder Fernost erstanden werden. Attraktive Ferrari-Straßenfahrzeuge sind im Rahmnen der Sonder-Päsentation "Ferrari Days" zu bestaunen.
Show-Center neu gestylt
In neuem Outfit präsentiert sich das Show-Center in Halle 1 A. Custom-Cars, sprintstarke und kraftstrotzende Dragster, Motorrad-Designstudien und -Unikate vom weltgrößten Mortorrad-Treff in Daytona, extrem flache Lowrider, Traktoren mit über 5.000 PS Leistung, Custom-Cars, Kunst-Autos wie der mit etlichen Musikinstrumenten ausstaffierte VW-Käfer – das Show-Center belegt erneut, dass der automobilen Phantasie kaum Grenzen gesetzt sind. Besonderes Highlight wird der Xeno III sein, ein komplett vergoldeter Roadster im Wert von einer Million US-Dollar. Einen Blick in die Autozukunft gewährt die Schau "Automobil-Design", die rund 20 automobile Visionen der Automobilhersteller und renommiertesten Designer zeigt.
Das Haupt-Thema im Show-Center ist "55 Jahre Ferrari in der Formel 1" - präsentiert von Ferrari-Partner Shell Helix. Über 20 Sieger-Fahrzeuge erinnern an die Erfolgsgeschichte der roten Boliden aus Maranello in der Königsklasse des Motorsports.
Große Präsentation "100 Jahre Motorsport im ADAC" in Galeria und Halle 2A
Höhepunkt und Abschluss des Jubiläumsjahres "100 Jahre Motorsport im ADAC" ist die große Präsentation in der Galeria und Halle 2A. Der ADAC, der ideeller Träger der "Essen Motor Show" ist, stellt einmal mehr seine sportlichen Aktivitäten in den Mittelpunkt. Eine umfangreiche Vorstellung erfolgreicher Renn-Autos und -Motorräder, die bei ADAC-Veranstaltungen Siege herausfuhren - vom Grand-Prix-Rennwagen bis zum Rallye-Fahrzeug – steht in der Galeria im Blickpunkt.
