The Essen Motor Show had been founded back in the sixties by former Austrian Grand Prix star and 1970 Formula One world champion Jochen Rindt, who had called it Jochen Rindt Show. Very soon it became the world´s largest exhibition on racing, sports and special cars. Since 1978 it is called Essen Motor Show. In 2001 it takes place from 30th November until 9th December to be the number one fair for motorsport, tuning and classical cars in the world.

This year the Essen Motor Show is offering, in the Show Center in hall 4, a unique presentation from the history of motorsport, which has never before existed in this form. After 30 worldchampionship winning cars from Formula One were exhibited last year, 24 victorious cars from the sportscar and GT worldchampionships from 1953 to 1998 are being presented this year. All cars are the original vehicles.
